I Run

All my life
I have been running
from things, from people,
from anything
that threatened to expose
my insecurities.

I run because it is easy,
I run because it has become
second nature,
I run because I never liked
to face my fears.

And I am staring at them
right now,
in this moment
of disorientation and panic,
seconds
before I know my feet
will take off.

And the fear hits me
harder than anything
I have ever felt.
So I do the only thing I know,
I run.
But this time,
I will not run for my life,
I will run with it.
