Lost Boys

And all we wanted to do
was to leave this town
of lost boys and dreams
that never took off,
instead settling,
and collecting
like leaves in dusty drains,
washed away by heaven’s tears,
and drowning
was not an option.
Not when our eyes were
silver-sparkled with the wonder
of cities we’ve never been to,
and people we’ve never met,
eyes that hid the pain
of our existence.
And all we wanted to do
was to leave this town,
waiting for that one day
we’d come around.
